This course is a comprehensive course on various aspects of leadinga congregation including conflict resolution, church polity (elders,deacons, evangelists, teachers), gender studies, church growthprinciples for different church sizes, church administration, churchboard, Kids Kingdom, conducting weddings and funerals, usingtechnology, integrating spiritual gifts, etc.
This course consists of an introduction to the basic principles of NewTestament Greek.
This course surveys the principles and beliefs (doctrines) of theChristian World View in the Bible in contrast with other WorldReligions.
This course involves a study of the dynamics within marriage andfamily and the proper application of biblical and psychologicalcounseling principles with respect to marriage and family. Studentswill explore the range of experiences in couple and familyrelationships in various areas from spiritual and systemicperspectives: from physical affection to abuse, healthycommunication to painful conflict, connection to disconnection, andthe impact of roles and power. Special focus is given to physical andsexual abuse, addiction, domestic violence, mental health, andresilience. Students will also examine the Self of the Counselor inrelation to work with family and couple issues, which involvesencouraging the student to examine their attitudes, beliefs,experiences, and understandings about individuals and relationshipswithin family and marriage.
This course involves an in-depth English text study of the contentsand history found in the Book of Acts and has a special focus on thebiblical-theological themes of conversion, the Holy Spirit, churchpolity, and leadership principles.
What is spiritual formation? This course examines the biblical,historical, and theological aspects of Christian formation with34emphasis on both personal life and ministry contexts. This courseexamines the principles, problems, and practices of spiritual growthin Christ, both personally and corporately, with an emphasis on theChristian disciplines. Explores the stages of spirituality and spiritualdevelopment. This course will help the student determine where theyhave been, where they are, and where they want to go on theirspiritual journey.
This is a non-credit, two-week, pass/no pass orientation coursewhich provides an overview of online learning, expectations of thestudent, an introduction to our online learning management system,40an introduction to research and writing skills including Turabianformat, MTS programs and policies, and delineating helps inpreparing the student for successful completion of his or her degreehere at MTS. The student must pass this course before taking othercourses at MTS.
