This course is built on NT 610 and NT 610 is a prerequisite for this course. This course consists of learning detailed elements involved in NT Greek exegesis. This is a comprehensive study of syntax, inflection, and vocabulary on the intermediate level and exegetical readings in the Greek New Testament.

2. *GB615 Biblical Hermeneutics and Exegesis taught by Dr. Cochell

This class surveys resources, principles, and methods of interpreting the Bible with special emphasis on contemporary hermeneutical approaches.

3. PC600 Pastoral Care and Counseling taught by Dr. Marutzky

This course provides an understanding of pastoral counseling from a spiritual, social, clinical, and physical perspective. The students will explore Biblical, scientific, and theological approaches to increasing the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of people.  An overview of Pastoral Counseling will be presented including gaining an understanding of numerous situations pastors will encounter in ministry including crisis, trauma, tragedy, death, suicide, disease, accidents, and illnesses.  The most common pastoral counseling approach is Brief-Solution Focused Therapy. This modality will be presented from a Christian perspective. Solution-Oriented Therapy focuses on utilizing a person’s strengths along with Christian spirituality to enhance wellness. The students' own lives and experiences are seen as a base for developing competence in a healing counseling ministry.

4. CH601 History and Theology of the Restoration Movement taught by Dr. Kinnard

This course examines the biblical, historical, and theological aspects of Christian formation with emphasis on both personal life and ministry contexts. Our course will examine principles, problems, and practices of spiritual growth in Christ, both personally and corporately, with an emphasis on the spiritual disciplines. This course will explore the stages of spirituality and spiritual development. This course will help the student determine where they have been, where they are, and where they want to go on their spiritual journey.

5. *NT651 Life and Teaching of Jesus the Messiah taught by Dr. Kinnard

This course is an in-depth English text study of Jesus’ teachings and life as depicted in the four gospels of the Bible.

6.  SF601 Introduction to Spiritual Formation taught by Dr. Carrillo

This course involves a study of the dynamics within marriage and family and the proper application of biblical and psychological counseling principles with respect to marriage and family. Students will explore the range of experiences in couple and family relationships in various areas from spiritual and systemic perspectives: from physical affection to abuse, healthy communication to painful conflict, connection to disconnection, and the impact of roles and power. Special focus is given to physical and sexual abuse, addiction, domestic violence, mental health, and resilience. Students will also examine the Self of the Counselor in relation to work with family and couple issues, which involves encouraging the student to examine their attitudes, beliefs, experiences, and understandings about individuals and relationships within family and marriage.

7. **US500 Intro to MTS and Graduate Study taught by Dr. Giles

This is a non-credit, two-week, pass/no pass graduate school orientation course which provides an overview of online learning, expectations of the student, an introduction to our online learning management system, an introduction to research and writing skills including Turabian format, MTS programs and policies, and delineating helps in preparing the student for successful completion of his or her degree here at MTS. The student must pass this course before taking other courses at MTS.

8.  CCC2 How to Use the Bible in Christian Counseling taught by Dr. Konzen

This course surveys resources, principles and proper methods of interpreting and applying the Bible in a pastoral counseling context. The student will put these principles into practice by interacting with the textbooks, notes, and practical scenarios.

9. *CT611 Intro to Christian Theology taught by Dr. Cochell

This course surveys Christian theology and doctrine in the Bible both from an historical perspective as well as a systematic perspective. It is an introduction to the key biblical beliefs that define the historic Christian faith (e.g. God, Christ, Holy Spirit, humanity, sin, salvation, etc.), with attention given to the credibility of such beliefs.

** Indicates that the US500 course is a 2-week course that must be completed before taking any other graduate or certificate courses.
